Trading Shares

Shares trading can be a very profitable buisness if you pay close attention to the detail and are able to see the big picture. To be successful in trading shares you need to closely monitor the shares you are interested in.

How to Buy and Sell Shares

If you are wondering about how to buy and sell shares on the stock market there are five things to do before you can do this successfully.

First, you have to sign up with a brokerage firm, preferably a discount brokerage firm. If you don’t sign up and make an investment, there will be no trading or buying and selling. Find out which is the most reliable firm in your locality and then talk to the broker assigned to you. Make sure to ask all the pertinent questions, clarify everything there is that needs to be clarified and if you like the broker and the firm then open an account. Remember, this should be a long term type of relationship so be sure the firm is trustworthy.

Second, make sure there is money in the account that you open. Some accept checks, account transfers, online banking, etc. Talk to the broker and what they accept. They are the only ones who can help you out.

Third, get quotes once the account has been opened. It is best that you already know which stock it is that you are interested in buying, but if you are not, then again, discuss the matter thoroughly with your broker. They will show you the right way as they are there to help you and to make a profit themselves. They will not point you to the wrong direction on purpose.

Fourth, once you get the quotes and you have had time to study your options, you can now start thinking about trading. Make sure that you have a real time quote for a better decision making.

Fifth and last, it is best that you get to be familiar, very familiar with trading terminologies. If you are not, then you would be trading blind and not know up from down, which is a bad way to start a trading, this could cost you a lot of money.

• Security is the stock symbol of the company that can be bought or sold.

• The limit order is the price that is placed as a ceiling to either buy or sell, this will avoid nasty surprises.

• The stop price is set again for the buying and the selling. A stop loss sell order may be placed to make losses minimal or low enough for the trader to shoulder. When this is reached, the market order is sent out on that price. Quantity is the number of shares that can be bought or sold

• Price is the limit order for the buying and the selling if it is reached

• Duration is the amount of time left for an order to be placed.

  • Occupy the Boardroom

I want companies to focus on creating situations that allow their faithful, buy-and-hold shareholders to achieve a positive return on their investment. By far, the best way to ensure this is to share the company's growing cash flow with its shareholders in the form of cash dividends. Only through growing cash dividends can a buy-and-hold investor truly be able to ignore the daily fluctuations of the market.

Even those people who know very little about how the stock market works are probably familiar with the activity that takes place on the trading floor, or pit as it is commonly known. Whilst free stock broker research can be immensely useful to learn more about the markets when you begin investing, if you don't take into account its flaws it can leave you with some serious holes in your balance sheet. It has its uses, but should only be used sparing to help create a broader picture of the company, industry or economy.
